Jerry Sandusky Guilty....Quick Pencil Sketch!!

Well the verdict is in, and Jerry Sandusky is found guilty on 45 of the 48 counts that were against him...Looks like he's heading for prison.

With that said, he has one of those faces that are perfect for caricature, so I had draw him. This sketch took me about 5 minutes or so!!

As far as the conviction goes let me hear your thoughts on this subject. How do you feel knowing this type of predator is out there possibly targeting your child? What would you do if it was your child this happend to? Let me here your thoughts!

Logo creation walk threw...Watch the animation, and see it come to life!

Yesterday, I showed everyone the inked version of the metal detecting logo that I created for recent client. Here is a link to his site! Vertex Airsoft   So I went for a different approach this time and created a animation to show you how a create this type of logo in stages.
The first step is to perpare the ink drawing for color. Next I color my image using just standard base colors like blue, green, white, gray....you get the idea!!

The second step is to add the shadows to the image. The shadows color are determined by the base color that I used to color the image. For example: on the shirt, the base color is green, so the shadows on the shirt will be a darker green. *How dark the green should be really depends on the artist's taste

After placing all of the shadows, its time for the highligts. Highlights are place on the cartoon where I think sunlight would hit the figure if he was real. Typically I use the color white for the highlights, but the exception is on the shirt. The highlights on the shirt are actually a brighter green. I felt the white over powered the green making the cartoon look funny.

Lastly, to finish off the logo, I created a simple patch of grass underneath him. The more I looked at it, the more I new something was missing. That's when I said " Duhhh Fred...he's just standing in mid air " and so the grass patch was create to give him stability!

I hope you enjoyed the animation, if you have question, or comments, feel free to post them love to here what you have to say. Also if you need a custom logo of your own don't hesitate to ask!

My Own Logo Got Me A Job!!

The last time I posted, I was in finishing up a metal detecting logo for myself which I called the "Monster Coin Hunter." Well as luck would have it, that logo found its way to a company in Texas called Vertex AirSoft (check it out already...would ya!!)

The owner sent me an email asking if I would sell the logo for his metal detecting business.... In case your wondering I didn't sell it, but instead made a new one! I kept the overall design very simular to the first one by exagerating some of the features to giving it that RatFink kind of look.

So I have decided to post this design process again. The reason I'm blogging about this subject again is due to that I used a different software program to create this logo. The first one I used a combination of Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop to create it. This time I only used AI ( Adobe Illustrator ) for the whole thing. With that said check out the original ink drawing that I did.

Also, If you would like to take a sneak peek at what the finished logo looks like you can see it here.  http://www.fredkocebadesign.weebly.com/ The website is still in construction, but the image is on there in the logo tab...

Metal Detecting Logo....Finished!!

Well here ya go, stage three is complete! I have added all the color to the logo that I going to add.
In my own personal opinion, I couldn't ask for a better out come.

I threw in the baby blue back drop ( say that three times fast!!! ) and the ground to give the logo more depth. Lastly, the green " Monster Coin Hunter " title finishes it all off!

One more step to do, and that is to have this bad boy placed on a t-shirt.

I'll be showing that tomorrow, so be sure to check back in!

Metal Detecting Logo....Color added, but not finished yet!!

Hey, Hey, Hey....Here it is, not completely colored just yet, but it has the base colors and a little bit of shading! Still the image is starting to come alive and as an artist this is where all of your hard work pays off when you see the final image end in sight!!

I will be definitely working on more of this later today, and might possibly post again later on showing how much more of it I have completed.

It all depends, I have a lot of work on my plate right now you'll just have to check back later and see!!

Metal Detecting Logo.... Stage 2 Inked Image!!

As promised, here is the inked image from the original pencil sketch that I posted yesterday. This completes stage 2 of the 4. Here are the stages again just as a reference.

1. Pencil Sketch
2. Inked drawing
3. Color stage
4. finished image on T-shirt

I actually inked this image the old school way and used pen and ink on paper. Most illustrators today tend to do this digitally using software like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter, and ArtRage. Any of these programs will give you result like I have shown here. The only reason I tend to ink with pen and ink is due to the fact, if I ever become famous for my artwork then I have originals that could be worth some big money...Well that's the plan anyways!!

Come back tomorrow and see how I add color to this logo.

Metal Detecting Logo.. Monster Coin Hunter

It's been a long time since I posted....Sorry about that! Well I'm kickin' things off with a logo that I am designing for my new hobby... METAL DETECTING!!

So here we are at the first stage which for me is just a general pencil sketch of the idea in my head. *If your wondering why the figure is so weird looking, its because I'm going call myself the "Monster Coin Hunter". The key word here is "Monster"

This will be a four stage process. They go in this order.
1. The rough sketch
2. Inking
3. Color
4. Printed on the t-shirt

Stay tooned because step 2 is coming up tomorrow!!

GOLD RUSH TONITE...ARE THE HOFFMAN'S REALLY THEIVES?

Well, it's Friday and we all know what that means. A new episode of Gold Rush is on tonite. This episode is the last for this year and speculation has it that its going to be a duzy. From what I have heard, Jack Hoffman announces that he's got a drug addition, Harness claims that the Hoffmans have stole some of the gold and that they should have reached 100 ounces.

All I know is that if any of it is true then I can't wait for the is episode. If anybody has heard any information about what I am posting....I want to hear it!

Also, for giggles I did a quick 5 minute sketch of Todd Hoffman...Tell me what you think!

McDonald's....Do you want slime with that!

Well it happened....the end of the world did happen in 2012. McDonalds announced that they use pink slime when making their hamburgers, and to be honest it makes me sick think that I have been eating this stuff for years.

As of today McDonald's and all other fast food places are off of my menu for good. You know as well as I do that if one major company is using this crap in their food, they all are!

Let me here your thoughts on the pink slime world!

The Walking Dead

Ahhh....Zombies! Just kidding, but seriously what would you do if the dead came back to life and wanted to eat your brains?

I happen to be a huge zombie-a-holic when it comes to zombie films. My personal favorite zombie show right now is the The Walking Dead on AMC. If you haven't seen it, here's a quick run down on it.

The dead comes back to life ( of coarse! ) and we find a group of people who have come together trying to survive. The move from place to place in search of a place to call home, but every where they go they have walkers waiting to gobble them up. The best part about the show is that it deals with conflicts that we as a society take for granted. For example: what would you do if there were no more police officers to protect you, no more electricity, no more super markets, no more conviences....you get the point. Basically, the world turns upside down and we are no longer on top of the food chain. What would you do?

In honor of all my zombie lovin' friends out there I have made this cute little deadite for your viewing. I think  I will create a little series of these little zombie guys in the near future...maybe even a comic book...who knows. One thing is for sure, I plan on making a little tutorial in the next day, or two explaining how I created this image. So if your curious....be sure to stay tooned!

Gold Rush Todd Hoffman Caricature

Great episode of Alaska Gold Rush on A&E tonite! I was worried for the Hoffman crew when Greg Remsburg left, but you can't blame the guy. Its easy to see how not finding gold is depressing him.

Still, I'm glad they took the time to ask an expert on what they should do next. Lucky that the first dig site still has gold in it and that they still have a chance to find their 100 ounces.

Also, I see that their is another new show on called... Bering Sea Gold which is just like Gold Rush, but deals with the sea. Hopefully its good like Gold Rush!

Here is a quick sketch that I did of Todd Hoffman while watching the show. I think I'll try to capture a better likeness later on tonite.

Storage Wars Darrell Sheets Caricature

Tonight is an all new episode of Storage Wars on A&E.... To be completely honest I can't wait to see it!
I posted a caricature of Barry Weiss last week and today's featured caricature is of Darrell Sheets from the show.

I know that my post last week was a little rough and was typically aimed at anyone getting into the storage unit buying career, and why they shouldn't do it. It's still a hard way to make a living, but the truth is it can be done. With the advancement in cell phone technology, it allows you to be the perfect mobile market at these auctions. When the doors go up you can take a quick look at most of the items in the unit, bring up your eBay app and have a good idea was stuff is worth. The only downside to this is that once you look at your phone and people notice ( people will notice! ) and you begin to bid, they will be more apt to bid against you as they know, that you know, there is something of value inside.

Still, with that said, there is always pro and cons to everything in life...not to mention the storage unit auctions as well. Just remember to do your homework before jumping in, or even quiting your job when entering this business. If Jarrod Schulz, Brandi Passante, Darrell Sheets, Barry Weiss, and Dave Hester can do it, why can't you! Heck, I hope to see you on the show...

Also as a final note, if you like Storage Wars and A&E, then try the Storage Wars Game on Facebook. You can find it here http://apps.facebook.com/storagewarsgame/

Kim Kardashian out and about with Kelly Ripa

Kim Kardashian seems to done playing hide and seek since her divorce from husband number 2 Kris Humphries. The reality tv star decided to fill in as the co-host on live with Kelly Ripa this morning.

Here is a quick run down on what happened on the show.

First Kelly opens with telling the audience and the world how beautiful Kim is and how she has impeckable skin and hair. Of coarse Kim tries to down play all of this.

Next the conversation ran into yesterdays football game where they dabbled on Ed Hotchuli's explanation of this years new rules of sudden death over time. It was hilarious to watch, actually!

The show continues with them talking about the ovarian cancer research fundraiser that Kim helped out with. This seemed to break the ice and led into talking about Kim's tough year.

This was followed by Kim talking about her divorce from Kris Humphries in more detail and how it wasn't a business decision to get divorced.

The conversation then jumped to another famous couple who is in the news and will probably be getting a divorce which is Heidi Klum-Seal relationship.

With that said, it switches back to Kim and her problems. Kim was quick to point out that she wishes that no one ever has to go through a divorce and that you don't really understand why it happens unless your in those peoples shoes.

Kelly then praises Kim for being tough with her situation/ordeal that she currently going through.

So that's what you missed on "Live with Kelly" this morning!

Joe Paterno...Dead at 85

When we take the time to remember our fallen heroes, the first thing that comes to mind is all the great things they did in their life time. In some cases we remember the people that they saved, money they donated, their break through in science, or the music that they made.

With the passing of the great Joe Paterno this is not the case. We as a society will not remember Joe and the 62 years of players that he coached at Penn State, or even the fact that he was the head coach for the past 46 years. His legacy will be defined by a sex scandal that happened just months ago which rocked Penn State and its football community to the very core.

The sad part is just months after being fired from Penn State ( which he helped make it the power house that it is today )
he is gone. So I guess Penn State got what they wanted after all.

In the end, Joe's ending was not that of the story book ending like in the movies. It could have been like the movie "Rudy" where they carry him off the field, but instead we have to point out the worst points and rub it in his face, like rubbing your dogs nose in his own poop. To me this sex scandal does not define the Joe Paterno that I have watched on tv for years. Nope, when I think about Joe Paterno I will remember the honor that he showed, the ethics that he stuck to, and the passion that he presented for something he loved...football.

Still, I believe the Joe Paterno got the last laugh in...He got to go to work at a job that he loved, and we all know that when you work at job you love, you never work a day in your life.

R.I.P.....Joe Paterno

Ron Paul Art Poster Entitled " NOPE "

Every one can remember a few years back when the famous Barack Obama poster came out, entitled " Hope ". We later found out that the creater of this iconic poster used a picture that he did not take to create the image. This is known a copyright infringment and the man ended up having to pay a lot of the money back to the original owner of the photo.

The image presented at the right was created off a real picture that I found at the website http://www.baynews9.com/ and they own full copyright of the picture. I used their image to create a poster in the same style as the " Hope " poster done a few years back.

Mine on the other hand is entitled " Nope " because I don't think there is a snowball chance in hell that Ron Paul will be able to win the race against Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, or Rick Santorum
( The image on the right is not to be used or reproduced without express permission from baynews9.com or from Fred Koceba of FredKocebaDesign. Any use of this picture without permission will definitely get you sued! )

It seems like his mind and ideas are in the right place, but doesn't have the guts to push the other canidates around. You know what I getting at, he doesn't have the toughness to get dirty in the trenches, or sometimes use the low blow to get his point across. America needs its next president to almost bully his way through the congress b_!!$#*t and get america moving in the right direction. If the president doesn't, we may soon find our selves being the second super power country, instead of the first like were use to.

Who do you think will be the next candidate? lets here your thoughts world....

Gold Rush Alaska...Todd Hoffman

There isn't much time left for the Hoffman crew to reach the 100 ounces of gold that they were predicting they would get, but there is still hope.

First thing they need to do is get some real gold miners up there. I mean come on...I could probably find more gold just panning it than they could with all that equipment.

Is it me, or does it seem like most of the time they are all standing around looking at the gold then processing it. In this type of business the more dirt you process the more gold you find...right? With gold being at an all time high of about 1600 hundred dollars an ounce I would you be doing anything I could to get my hands on it.

Every time I watch this show, I will admit that I pulling for them to strike it rich. To invest all your money into the american dream is the american way of life. With that said, the Hoffman crew should use their time a little wiser. For example, there is a river next to where they are mining....so if they have down time, go pan for gold in that river. If you don't want to do that, then atleast lube up the equipment, do saftey checks, or go prospecting for more gold honey holes.....do something besides stand around! This is game in which every little gram of gold that you find counts. Simple logic tells me if you can 7 guys panning for gold in a river will equal more money than 7 guys just standing around.

Who feels the same way as I do? If so let me hear your thoughts.

Grey's Anatomy Digital Painting Study of Eric Dane

Another one of my favorite shows on television is Grey's Anatomy. I have to admit that I was hooked on the show a while back, but quickly realized that the shows story line was becoming a little to far fetched. So I quit watching it for a while, and wouldn't you know it they killed off a few actors who were dragging the show down...especially ( cough..cough ) that Katherine Heigl.

I began watching the show again when Heigl only had one or two episodes left....YEAH! Still with that said, today's art work is that of Eric Dane. I thought he would make the perfect subject to do a quick study of due to his square jaw and squinty eyes. Also I thought to myself...hey you haven't done a digital painting caricature of any celebrity in a while, so I went for it. I figure that I have to do some digital paintings once in a while or I'll forget how to do them.

If you like the show ( Grey's Anatomy ) then hit me back with your thoughts or comments on the actors!

Storage Wars, Barry Weiss Caricature

Money owns this town...dun dun...Money owns this town...yeah, yeah.... This is a familar tune that rings through our televisions now a days. Its incredible to think that storage units have become the next generation of gold mines.

Sure, we all have seen Barry Weiss, Jarod and Brandi, Darrell, and Dave Hester take these rare items that they find in these units and make thousands of dollars on them. Most people don't realize that these exciting finds happen every 1 out of 20 units they buy. This means only the best of the best in this rat race to buy storage units are going to make serious money at it. Not to mention what do you do if you buy a couple bad units and you can't make any money on them. What then?

Unless you have a key eye for antiques I recommend that any person considering to try this business, not to do it. There are plenty of veterans in this field who have made tons of money, and made tons of connections to get rid of their stuff. Also they have no problem raising the bid on the unit and quickly dropping it on you. With people like that out there, you'll be in business one day, and they'll be buying your stuff out of a unit as your business falls on its face the next day.

If you don't believe this can happen, just take Barry Weiss ( caricature above ) as an example. If your a fan of the show, you'll notice that Barry has had a long streak of getting bad units. He tends to go after the big ticket item in every unit. This tends to happen to most people in this business. Which, I'm sad to say, leads to the end of most storage unit buyers.

Take it from me, if your good at a job then stay with it. If your dream is to rule the world buying one storage unit at a time, then be my guest....but you've been warned!

If you have your own stories with storage units, or your a storage unit buyer don't hesitate to share your story with me.
